    Description

Korean Air Luxuy Liner #HL7495 was delivered in December 1995, amidst the airline’s efforts to reshape itself into an international airline. Its use of Boeing 747s over the years and its expansion of international flights took the Korean Air from its roots as a government owned airline through years of safety issues and even a Cold War target to its current status as Korean’s largest airline and contender amongst top airlines. HL7495 offered globe-crossing flights with world class in-flight meals and state-of-the-art entertainment features that made international flights an unparalleled experience. The remaining two Korean Air 747-400s flew for the last time on November 19th, 2019.

    Handmade Aviation Tags

    PlaneTags are:

    • Authentic - made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal.
    • Unique -  each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags.
    • Collectible - each one is numbered in a limited edition and comes attached to a display card.
    • Versatile - comes with a durable metal ring, strong enough to attach to luggage or keys or display.
    HISTORY

    THE QUEEN OF THE SKIES

Since its first flight in 1969 the Boeing 747 has established itself as a worldwide aviation icon. For many years, only the 747 impressed passengers with an upper deck for Prestige Class seating – creating the now familiar hump on the front of the plane. The originally small hump has been extended over the years, and some older 747s have even been retrofitted to extend the hump for a more noticeable shape.

Korean Air, the largest carrier of South Korea, was privatized in March 1969, and soon after cargo and passenger flights to the US were established. The first 747 joined the fleet in 1973, with the first 747-400 introduced in early 1995. In April, 1994, the airline celebrated its 25th anniversary, reaching the 150 million passengers carried milestone.

    OUR PLANES STORY

After receiving many requests to release a Korean Air PlaneTag we’ve been waiting patiently for an iconic 747 to become available. Finally after a year of searching we discovered our Queen in Marana, Arizona. Our Korean Air Luxury Liner #HL7495 was delivered to the airline in December 1995 and flew with Korean Air until retirement in 2017. She served a brief stint with Delta Material Services as  a parts plane in 2018 before landing at last in the Southwest US.

We removed her crown and drove it to the shop to create limited edition tags in one of our most beautiful shades yet, a gorgeous, luminous baby blue – a PlaneTag truly everyone admires.

      ARRIVE IN LUXURY

“More than travel, it’s an experience”

Imagine an airplane seat described as “a personal space where relaxation, business and elegance co-exist” and you’ll find yourself transported to the Prestige Plus business class seating located on the second floor of Korean Air’s 747 fleet. Boasting a shell-type 170° flat sleeper seat, privacy partitions, seat controls, entertainment and more passengers could revel in the quiet of a secluded upper deck.

Known as the world’s finest restaurant in the sky – you think you’re being served at a world-class dining establishment, and you are. A two-time winner of the prestigious Mercury Award, Korean Air offered carefully selected Western, Chinese, Japanese and traditional Korean menus, complete with luxurious tableware and top-quality wines that suited the unique characteristics of your destination.

“Enjoy a travel experience like no other, from departure to arrival and beyond, with comfort that keeps you relaxed and refreshed.”

      “WELCOME TO KOREA”

From November 2011 to July 2013 our Korean Air 747 was adorned with very special livery – the “Welcome to Korea” mural. The artwork was displayed on both sides of the plane and was drawn by local children, their work featured elements of Korean life and was developed to support tourism in South Korea. The bright colors of this unique livery were seen across the world during its many international flights.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
